Software used
For image editing
- MSPaint. Still use it for some things that can be done with it faster and better (like removing small artifacts from images).
-
Corel Draw and Corel Photopaint
version 7 and 9 (I somehow missed version 8). Took me a long time to learn though.
I no longer use it, since my installation disks became corrupted and it is too old to ask for a replacement. I especially miss CorelDraw.
-
Gimp, the Linux program ported into Windows.
It has become indispensable.
-
Metacreations Painter Classic
with my Graphire Tablet.
This is great for painting; it has the feel of painting on paper with real paints. This program is no more, since Metacreations was acquired by Corel, but there are newer versions of
Painter
with different names.
- I have used
Reptile
for some organic textures.
-
Irfanview
for managing and converting images. Absolutely necessary!
-
Terragen
for digital landscapes.
-
POV Ray for Windows
for 3D images (from wallpapers to bullets).
-
Cursor dance
was used to make animated cursors.
- For image conversion between programs that are incompatible with each other, or the conversion takes a long time or has not so good results, there is a key on the keyboard called
print screen
(or alt+print screen for saving the active window). It saves the situation many times. The result can be pasted in almost any graphics program and cropped at will.
For webpublishing
- The HTML was started (a long time ago) with Microsoft Frontpage 98, when I knew nothing about HTML.
It was easy for a beginner to write HTML knowing nothing about it, but as I learned, I found that it added more code than was necessary (like giving font names and sizes in blank rows, adding empty table cells etc.) and some pages definitely did not look good with Netscape or other browsers.
- Now I only use Notepad or
1st Page 2000
or
KompoZer.
-
HTML-Kit
is used whenever I want to check my HTML for errors.
- Links are always checked with
Xenu's Link Sleuth.
- I have also used occasionally
WebTV Viewer
to check my pages' compatibility with Web TV.
-
FileZilla
is used to upload the pages to my server.
